Request approval of a special event grant funding request for The Market Marie in Downtown Clearwater in an amount not to exceed $18,043.00.

SUMMARY: 

The purpose of this item is to request approval of funding for four (4) Market Marie events in the amount not to exceed $18,043.00.  These events will take place on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, on the 600 Block of Cleveland Street from 10am-2pm and Saturday’s October 14th, November 11th, and December 9th, 2023, at Coachman Park from 10am-3pm with an expected attendance of approximately 1,000+ people for each market.

Based on DDB funding policy staff recommends funding these events in an amount not to exceed $18,043.00, which will cover up to $8,043.00 in city fees and marketing expenses in an amount up to $10,000.  The total cost of for (4) Market Marie events is $49,858.00 with the applicant requesting $31,143.00 in total grant funding for marketing, city fees, Live Music/or DJ, Misc. (Santa Claus, Bounce House, Easter Bunny, Photo Booths, etc.) and Jolly Trolly fees.

The Market Marie grant request aligns with the Downtown Development Board’s current work plan to fund various special events throughout the DDB District and increase awareness of Downtown as a destination.  Pending board approval, The Market Marie will complete a grant agreement that outlines the details of their event and the marketing benefits for the DDB as part of their grant agreement.

APPROPRIATION CODE AND AMOUNT:
Funds for this grant will be available in the Marketing Category Line items 1829411-558600 for the DDB’s FY 23/24 budget
