Review an update on the status of the 2021 exchange programs.

SUMMARY:
Due to the continued effects of the COVID-19 virus the Nagano Board of Education and Office of International Relations has requested the cancellation of all 2021 exchanges. This request comes at a time when cases are on the rise in Nagano Prefecture and Japan faces a third wave of infection.City staff has discussed Nagano’s request and recommends a cancellation to protect the health and safety of both cities’ resident participants.
Cultural Affairs staff will continue to be in contact with Nagano and will revisit the topic of future exchanges once global conditions improve.
