Approve Engineer of Record (EOR) Supplemental 1 Work Order from King Engineering in the amount of $75,614 for design of Northeast Water Reclamation Facility (NE WRF) Grit Removal, Salsnes Filter, and Equalization Tank System Improvements (15-0045-UT) and authorize the appropriate officials to execute same. SUMMARY: 

This project will install facility improvements at the NE WRF. Equipment includes Grit Removal, Salsnes Filters, and an Equalization Tank System.

 

On February 4, 2016, City Council approved an initial work order for design, permitting and bidding of improvements for Grit Removal, Salsnes Filter, and Equalization Tank Systems at the NE WRF to EOR King Engineering in the amount of $472,848.

 

During the design process, the City requested the EOR evaluate alternative technology that could potentially significantly reduce construction costs and provide a more efficient Equalization Tank System.

 

Supplemental 1 Work Order to King Engineering is for redesign of the Equalization Tank System for a new work order value of $548,462.

 

The City of Clearwater’s Public Utilities Department is responsible for owning, operating and maintaining facilities at the Northeast Water Reclamation Facility.

Funding is available in Capital Improvement Project 96215, Northeast Plant Upgrades/ Improvements, to fund the Supplemental Work Order.
