Approve an agreement renewal with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles authorizing the City of Clearwater as a Third-Party Administrator to conduct commercial driver license tests and authorize the appropriate officials to execute same. (consent)

SUMMARY: 

This agreement with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FDHSMV)  gives the City of Clearwater’s designated administrator and its representatives the authority to conduct testing of students for the purpose of obtaining a Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver’s License (CDL).

This is an updated agreement with the FDHSMV and the City attesting that the City will follow testing standards and has been in place since 1991.  The City currently has four certified testers which are city employees who conduct Commercial Driver tests for the City.  There are approximately 23 employees currently in training who will be testing.  On average, the City tests 30-40 drivers per year.

There is no funding required for this agreement.
