SUBJECT/RECOMMENDATION:
Title
Approve a Purchase Order with Xylem Water Solutions USA, Inc. in the amount of $304,495.00 for replacement of the Flygt Mud-well Pumps and Backwash Pumps at the Marshall Street WRF and the replacement Flygt Pump at Lift Station 58 and authorize the appropriate officials to execute same. (consent)
Body
SUMMARY:
This replacement project consists of 2 separate process pumping systems both at the Marshall St Water Reclamation Facility as well as a replacement pump for Lift Station 58.
At Marshall Street, the backwash pumps provide treated effluent water from the Chlorine Contact Chamber to “wash” the sand filters. The Mud-well pumps take the used wash water from the filters and returns it to the head of the plant.
Lift Station 58 is a critical station which moves wastewater from the collection system to the Northeast WRF for treatment. By bundling it into this purchase, the City gets a larger discount from the sole source vendor (Xylem for Flygt Pumps) as a bulk order.
These pumps are direct replacements, “like for like”, that will prevent any structural and piping modifications at the facility. Using these pumps will also reduce operations and maintenance costs through standardization at the plants. The operations and maintenance staff have been trained on these pumps and are familiar with their operation and maintenance.
Xylem Water Solutions USA Inc. is the sole source representative for Flygt pumps in Florida
