Approve Maintenance Agreement between Pinellas County (County) and City of Clearwater (City) for the installation and maintenance of a landscaped median located at Drew Street, north of St. Petersburg College and East Library and authorize the appropriate officials to execute same. (consent)

SUMMARY: 

Pinellas County maintains a section of Drew Street (CR 528) located west of the intersection of Old Coachman Road and Drew Street. This median is in need of landscaping improvements, and due to the location within the Sports District and adjacent to the to the new East Library, staff desires to beautify and maintain the median.

 

The County will be approving the construction plans for the median which will include irrigation and landscaping.

 

The City will install and maintain all improvements made to the median and pay for all expenses relating to ongoing maintenance, including landscaping and the irrigation system.

 

Depending on the final landscape plan, the cost of the project is estimated to be $50,000 to $75,000. Funding for the initial capital expense, as well as annual maintenance costs of $8,000 to $10,000 per year, will be absorbed in operational budgets for Fiscal Year 2018/19 (Parks and Beautification Administration 010-01860).
