Body

SUMMARY:

Request for Proposal 06-18 was issued on March 22, 2018, for elevator maintenance services to provide comprehensive preventive and routine elevator maintenance for 30 units at various facilities and locations within the City of Clearwater. The City received two responsive proposals, which were evaluated by a committee of city staff from General Services and Dieter Consulting Services, Inc., an elevator consultant.  The proposals were evaluated on three key areas: responsiveness, responsibility, and technical capabilities.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator of Tampa Florida is the recommended vendor for elevator maintenance services for all City-wide facilities.  ThyssenKrupp currently provides maintenance services for two-thirds of the city elevators and consistently provides excellent customer service in servicing and repairing those elevators.  As a result, only 4 additional hours were paid last year in overtime charges.  To meet current contract requirements and to better serve the City, ThyssenKrupp has geographically positioned and dedicated three service technicians.  Also, the company continues to use and provide open platform products and as a preventive measure will be installing elevator monitoring devices to alert the elevator company of any issues.

Additional elevator maintenance services may be added or removed, including the utilization of vendors for proprietary equipment, as needed.  Flexibility is requested to allow for expenditure of budgeted funds as needed throughout the year, in accordance with the intent of this general authorization.
