SUMMARY:
Cleveland Street Mobile Vending Program Update
The Cleveland Street Mobile Vending Program continues to be refined following feedback received from City departments.
Based on departmental input, the program name has been simplified to better reflect its purpose and focus. The program will be administered by Downtown Development Board (DDB) staff, and the permitting process is being aligned, where appropriate, with the City's existing Special Event permit process. This approach is intended to simplify the process by reducing the need for vendors to complete multiple applications or obtain separate permits, while providing a more consistent, streamlined, and efficient experience for both vendors and City staff.
Current efforts are focused on finalizing operational details, including vendor spacing and placement along the 400 and 500 block Cleveland Street, to ensure the program operates safely, efficiently, and in coordination with surrounding businesses and pedestrian activity.
A Call for Vendor Interest is also underway to help gauge participation and inform the final program. To date, 24 vendors have submitted an interest form.
The program remains under development. Once the remaining operational details have been finalized, the program will be brought back to the Downtown Development Board for feedback prior to implementation. The anticipated launch date is September 1, 2026.
