Discuss Nagano, Japan Delegation Trip: Updated Dates & Information

Body

SUMMARY:

The official delegation trip from Clearwater to Nagano, Japan was originally scheduled for October 2024, but had to be canceled due to a hurricane. The trip has now been rescheduled for July 20-30, 2025. There have been a few adjustments to the itinerary, with Kanazawa City removed from the list of destinations. The delegation will now spend three and a half days in Nagano, visiting schools, government offices, local businesses, and key historical sites. Additionally, the City Manager and Mayor have arranged business meetings with Japanese companies interested in expanding to the Clearwater area. It is recommended that everyone review the Advisory Board meeting from last July, which includes a presentation covering cultural norms, etiquette, and helpful tips for traveling in Japan. Unfortunately, due to the continued decline of the Yen and the upcoming election year in 2026, the City of Nagano has decided to cancel their reciprocal trip to Clearwater. They plan to resume their regular delegation schedule in approximately five years, though, of course, they are welcome to visit sooner if circumstances allow.
