Crest Lake Park Giving Wall Mural

Body

SUMMARY:

The Skycrest Neighborhood Association which boarders Crest Lake Park has requested a mural on the opposite side of the Giving Wall, which faces the street. Frankie G, a Tampa-based artist who has recently completed murals at Dunedin Middle School and other local schools, also participated in our Art Oasis Mural Festival and was one of the top-scoring artists in our previous open call. He was identified as a good choice for this project.

Cultural Affairs and Frankie G had a phone call with the Neighborhood Association President, who shared insight into the history of the park and surrounding area. Frankie developed a design and then attended a neighborhood association meeting in person, where feedback focused on including nature found in the park, especially the dog park and natural elements such as gladiolas.

Two designs attached will be displayed to park visitors on a poster with a posted QR code for voting. The selected design will move forward, with the mural expected to be installed by the end of the year. Funding is provided by the Neighborhoods Division within Public Communications.
