SUMMARY: 

The World’s Largest Rubber Duck, a 61-foot-tall inflatable installation that has traveled across the U.S., will be on display in downtown Clearwater from January 10-26, 2026. The duck will serve as a major attraction at Coachman Park, offering photo opportunities, community engagement, and a fun backdrop for themed events throughout the month.

The exhibit is designed to:

                     Draw visitors downtown, boosting foot traffic and local business engagement

                     Provide family-friendly entertainment and civic engagement opportunities

                     Enhance Clearwater’s branding and reputation as a creative, fun, and family-oriented city

 

Planned "Duck Days" Events:

 

Exclusive Photo Opportunity - January 9
A paid five-minute photo session experience for Jeep owners and guests to kick off the event series. Approximately 100-200 guests are expected. The activation encourages social media engagement and promotional sharing with the World’s Largest Rubber Duck as the backdrop.

 

Market Marie - January 10
An estimated 4,000 guests will attend this Saturday market, which may feature duck-themed vendor participation and family-friendly shopping opportunities in the downtown district.

 

Duck Dash 5K - January 11
This morning fun run is expected to attract more than 175 runners and spectators. The event will include vendor booths and a family-friendly atmosphere to promote health, wellness, and community participation.

 

Rubber Ducky’s Birthday Bash - January 17
In celebration of National Rubber Duck Day, this event will draw an estimated 1,000-2,000 guests. Planned activities include concerts by Jack Hartmann and Mr. Brad, bounce houses, face painting, balloon artists, and children’s crafts - all centered around a festive, family-friendly atmosphere.

 

Scenes on the Green - January 23
A relaxed, family-friendly movie night anticipated to attract 100-200 guests. Films will feature duck-themed favorites such as
The Mighty Ducks or DuckTales: The Movie, creating a fun and nostalgic evening experience.

Duck ‘n’ Drive Jeep Invasion - January 24
Expected to draw more than 5,000 guests, this large-scale Jeep festival will include vehicle displays, live music, axe throwing, a “Touch-a-Jeep” area, and local vendors. The event blends automotive culture with entertainment for all ages, serving as a major closing highlight of the Duck Days celebration.

 

Additional activities include Rubber Duck Races organized with local schools or scout troops, where the organization retains all proceeds.

The applicant is requesting $30,000 in funding for the World’s Largest Rubber Duck Exhibit in direct production costs and city fees.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of funding not to exceed $21,005 to cover direct production costs and city fees expenses for the World’s Largest Rubber Duck Exhibit, January 10-26, 2026. The applicant meets all DDB funding criteria under the DDB Grant Request Policy and Procedures.
