Body
SUMMARY:
The PILOT Micro-Pop-up Grant Program is designed to support smaller events and pop-ups located on the 400-500 blocks of Cleveland Street. Applicants may apply once per month, with a maximum grant amount of $5,000, which will be paid directly to the applicant for costs associated with their pop-up event. Additionally, the DDB will cover costs directly related to road mitigation that is approved through the Clearwater Police Department.
To be considered, applicants must submit a completed application, budget, map, and a tentative letter of approval from Clearwater Special Events. Applications can be submitted up to 60 days before the event.
To streamline the approval process, the CRA Executive Director or designee will have the authority to approve grants without requiring board approval.
An allocation of $50,000 to support this grant initiative is a strategic investment in the vibrancy of Downtown Clearwater. This initiative contributes directly to the activation and revitalization of Cleveland Street by:
1. Encouraging Consistent Activation - Providing funding for events in the 400 and 500 blocks ensures ongoing engagement, making Cleveland Street a dynamic destination.
2. Supporting Small and Emerging Events - A simplified application process and financial support create opportunities for smaller-scale activations, reducing barriers for organizations and businesses.
3. Fostering Economic Growth - Increased foot traffic from events benefits local merchants, supports tourism, and strengthens the downtown economy.
4. Enhancing Community Collaboration - The grant fosters partnerships between the DDB, event organizers, and local stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative approach to downtown revitalization.
5. Simplifying Event Logistics - Covering mitigation fees and requiring advance coordination with the Special Events Department helps streamline the planning process for organizers.
With clear eligibility criteria, compliance measures, and reporting requirements, the Micro-Pop-up Grant Program aligns with the DDB’s mission of fostering a thriving Downtown. By investing in micro pop-ups, Downtown Clearwater is cultivating a more active, welcoming, and economically resilient Cleveland Street.
