Body

SUMMARY:

The Parks & Recreation Department (Department) currently operates out of the Armory located at 706 North Missouri Avenue, which is used for staff offices and equipment storage supporting Special Events, Athletic Field Maintenance, and Trades Workers. As part of the City’s redevelopment priorities, operations will be relocated to multiple sites, and the Armory will be vacated.  Materials currently stored at the Armory will be redistributed to four locations throughout the city.

To support this transition, the Department is requesting to purchase seven enclosed trailers (8.5 ft. by 28 ft.) to provide approximately 1,666 square feet of portable storage.  These trailers will help offset the loss of centralized storage and allow equipment and materials to be effectively transported to the various worksites as needed.

Additionally, an extra forklift is required to support operations across newly distributed storage locations.  The Department currently has two forklifts, one to be relocated to the new Special Events office and one located at the Parks Field office.  A third forklift is needed at the new indoor storage facility at 1456 Lakeview Rd (previous location of Fire Station 47) to ensure operational efficiency across all sites.

Authorization is requested to procure seven enclosed trailers from Texas Trailers by piggybacking off of the State of Florida Contract 22100000-21-STC, Construction and Industrial Equipment, valid through June 30, 2027, which provides a 5% discount off MSRP, pursuant to City Code Section 2.563(1)(c).  In addition to the State contract discount, the City will receive an additional 3% multi-unit discount.  The total cost of these trailers is $134,867.50.

Additionally, authorization is requested to procure one forklift from Southern States TOYOTAlift by piggybacking off the Florida Sheriff Contract (FSA) FSA23-EQU21.1, Item #136, valid through September 30, 2026, pursuant to City Code Section 2.563(1)(c).  The total cost of the forklift is $54,406.00.
