East Pollution Control Facility Mural - Discuss and Vote on Design

Body

SUMMARY:

Following the successful collaboration with the Public Utilities Department on the water tank murals along SR 580, the department has requested to partner again, this time to enhance the East Pollution Control Facility located at 3141 Gulf to Bay Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33759. The department has requested an underwater sea life mural. This site is an excellent opportunity for public art, as the building is highly visible to thousands of commuters daily traveling to and from the Courtney Campbell Causeway, which connects Clearwater with Tampa and Tampa International Airport. Based on his previous work with the Arts & Cultural Affairs Department and CRA on the Grad Chalk Walk, artist Holland King was identified as a strong fit for the project. His proposed designs have been approved by the Public Utilities Department, and we are now requesting a vote from the Board to approve the final design selection.
