City Hall Sculpture Selection
Body
SUMMARY:
At the previous meeting, the Board narrowed the finalists to two artists, each submitting two design proposals.
A poll was distributed to City staff who will be working in the new City Hall, asking participants to rank all four designs from most to least preferred. There were 34 responses.
Scoring was based on a point system, with 4 points for each first-place ranking down to 1 point for each fourth-place ranking. The selected design was James Peterson’s Concept A (seaweed) design “Ripple,” which received 126 points. The second highest scoring design was Virginia Kistler’s Design A, with 119 points.
The selected artist has been issued a contract and is currently in coordination with City’s engineers regarding installation, which is anticipated by October 2006.
