Nagano Lantern Festival Panels
Body
SUMMARY:
Each year, Nagano, Japan, invites the Clearwater community to participate in its annual Nagano Lantern Festival by decorating lantern panels that are displayed as part of the festival's Sister Cities exhibit. The tradition began following the 1998 Winter Olympics, when Nagano established the Lantern Festival as a community celebration that has continued ever since. Staff has brought lantern panels today for anyone who would like to participate. If you are interested, please return your completed panel to City Hall by December 15 so staff has enough time to mail them to Nagano in advance of the February festival. We always enjoy seeing Clearwater represented in this special international tradition, and we encourage anyone who would like to participate to take a panel home today.
