Body
SUMMARY:
On October 03, 2024, Council approved the use of eighteen firms to serve as Construction Managers at Risk (CMAR) for Continuing Contracts under RFQ 51-24 and Bandes Construction Company, Inc. was selected as one of the approved firms.
The Pier 60 Pavilion roof sustained significant roof damage as a result of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. High winds from both storms caused extensive loss of the metal roofing. While temporary dry-in measures have been made to protect the structure, full replacement of the metal roofing and associated components is still required.
Bandes Construction will perform the following scope of work at the Pier 60 Pavilion: secure necessary permits, inspect the temporary underlayment repairs, install battens and new metal roofing panels, and complete site cleanup and demobilization. All work will be covered under warranty for both the metal roofing panels and underlayment.
While the City typically uses Garland Construction through an intergovernmental piggyback contract, Bandes Construction was selected for this project as their pricing was more competitive than that offered under the Master Intergovernmental Cooperative Purchasing Agreement (MICPA) #PW1925. In addition, Bandes Construction has been extensively involved with this and other Beach-related projects and is positioned to begin work immediately. The firm has consistently provided high-quality services across numerous City construction projects and has demonstrated reliability and responsiveness. City staff is confident in Bandes Construction’s ability to successfully manage the unique challenges associated with working in a high-traffic, pedestrian-focused site.
