SUMMARY:
The Mercado grand opening was held on November 1, 2024, where the artist chosen through public vote was announced. The selected artist is Cristina Salas, a New York-based mosaic artist originally from Ecuador. Cristina plans to begin the installation on January 15, 2025 aiming for completion by mid-February. We hope to host a community event during her stay and organize an art dedication ceremony once the piece is complete. Attached is the updated design concept, incorporating community feedback.
