Review the special event funding request for The Veterans Alliance of Clearwater Veteran’s Day Event that was approved at $81,000.

SUMMARY:
At the April 15, 2024, Downtown Development Board Meeting staff was directed to bring forward all special event grant funding requests that have been previously approved that will take place after October 1, 2024.
At the February 7, 2024, Downtown Development Board Meeting the Veteran’s Alliance of Clearwater submitted a special event funding request for a Veteran’s Day Event that will take place on November 9, 2024, with an estimated attendance of 2,000.
The Veteran’s Alliance of Clearwater estimates that the total budget cost of this event will be $81,000. Their ask of the DDB was $66,000 which would cover costs associated with sound, lighting, labor, entertainment, food and beverage, and marketing costs.
After review of the submitted budget, staff recommended funding in an amount not to exceed $20,000 based on the Grant Funding Policy at the time of presentation to the board. This would cover up to $15,000 in marketing expenses and $5,000 in entertainment costs.
At the February 7, 2024, Downtown Development Board Meeting the DDB approved a grant funding request in the amount of $81,000 with up to $66,000 to partially fund the approved program plus an additional amount of up to $15,000 to partially fund the Downtown/Parade Marketing.
Options for this grant agreement are to remain the same, amend or terminate.
APPROPRIATION CODE AND AMOUNT:
Funds for this grant will be available in the Marketing Category Line item 1829411-558600 for the DDB’s FY 24/25 budget
