Request approval of special event grant funding for a Veterans Day event produced by The Veteran’s Alliance of Clearwater in an amount not to exceed $20,000.

SUMMARY:
The purpose of this item is to request approval of funding for The Veterans Alliance of Clearwater Veterans Day event in the amount not to exceed $20,000. The event will take place on November 9, 2024, with estimated attendance of 2000.
The Veterans Alliance of Clearwater estimates that the total budget cost for this event will be $81,000. Their contribution will be $15,000 and are asking the Downtown Development Board for a total of $66,000 to cover cost associated with Sound, Lighting, Labor, Entertainment, Food and Beverage and Marketing.
Based on DDB funding policy staff recommends funding the event in an amount not to exceed $20,000, which will cover up to $15,000 in marketing expenses and $5,000 in entertainment (if the event is open to the public).
The Veterans Alliance of Clearwater grant request aligns with the Downtown Development Board’s current work plan to fund various special events throughout the DDB District and increase awareness of Downtown as a destination.
Pending board approval, The Veterans Alliance of Clearwater will complete a grant agreement that outlines the details of their event and the marketing benefits for the DDB as part of their grant agreement.
APPROPRIATION CODE AND AMOUNT:
Funds for this grant will be available in the Marketing Category Line items 1829411-558600 for the DDB’s FY 24/25 budget.
